At Cogo Capital, once the file is prepared and all documents have been obtained, you’ll move to the underwriting department.

The Underwriting Process

Typically, it takes about 24 to 48 hours for the underwriting team to do a full review of your loan depending on the complexity of the file. We will review all documents that were collected by your loan officer and processor to ensure accuracy and create a full story for our funding department to clearly understand your end goal.

The importance of underwriting is to ensure that you have the ability to support the debt, along with the ability to complete the project in a timely manner. We also make sure that the client will make a profit and that the deal makes sense for not only them but our fund.


If we are missing documentation, we will have our processor collect what’s needed to get your file to closing. Typically, from the time that your file is submitted to underwriting and to closing is five days. For more information, click the link below.
